No. Essays are one part of it. StoryMap also helps you with supplements, short answers, activities, recommendation materials, colleges and deadlines, offers and aid, and the practical steps after you choose a school.

You do not need a more impressive life. StoryMap starts with the experiences and details you might normally overlook, then helps you notice what they reveal about how you think, what you care about, what you notice, and how you move through the world.

StoryMap does not hand you a finished AI-written essay to submit as your own. It works like a writing coach, asking questions, pointing out what is missing, helping you organize and revise, and suggesting or modeling language in smaller sections when useful.

That support stays grounded in what you have actually shared, and you remain the author of the final work.

AI detectors are imperfect and sometimes flag human writing incorrectly, so no one can guarantee what a detector will report. StoryMap is designed around a different standard: keeping you as the author.

Our writing coaching stays grounded in your own material. StoryMap avoids taking over large parts of the writing, tracks how your writing developed, and helps you notice when the language starts to move away from your own voice.

Not automatically. A parent or guardian sees meaningful progress and what is coming up next. They see a Story Direction or draft only when you choose to share that specific piece, and you can take that access back.

Sharing that piece does not automatically reveal the Discovery responses, Story Bank material, or other private work behind it.

A connected counselor can see meaningful progress and where their input may be useful, but they do not automatically see your private StoryMap. They read only the work you choose to share with them.

Yes. You can bring in the colleges, prompts, and writing you already have. StoryMap can then help you strengthen what is still unwritten, spot repetition across what you have already created, and decide what the remaining parts of your application should reveal about you.

Yes. StoryMap helps you decide which parts of your story belong in your personal essay, supplements, short answers, activities, and recommendation materials, so different responses reveal different dimensions of you instead of repeating each other.

Your work stays yours. You can download or copy what you have written, and you control who has access to work you shared inside StoryMap.

If you revoke someone's access, they will no longer be able to open that shared work through StoryMap. However, StoryMap cannot remove copies someone may already have downloaded, copied, or saved outside the platform.
